Summary
Ludmila Bejenaru: The influence of Byzantium on the culture of Central and Eastern Europe
The study of the influence of Byzantium on the culture of Central and Eastern Europe calls for an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary consideration of Byzantine influences on the Middle and Eastern area of European civilization and culture, to study the ways in which Byzantium found expression or reflection in the civilizations and cultures of those European areas, especially in Orthodoxy. It certainly presents Orthodoxy as a source of constant creation of Christian art, which is always the same in terms of its foundations, yet different in terms of adaptation to the moment. This Byzantine influence on iconography and artistic styles in Central and Southeastern Europe is evident. The scientific innovation and originality of this study rests on the complex research of Byzantine trends, ideas and factors, which appear in these European cultures, using new methodologies of historical, theological, philosophical and cultural study of problems.
