Summary
Snežana Ilić: Atanasije Šola
A contribution to the study of the cultural and political history of Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Atanasije Šola (1878–1955) belonged to the constellation of the greatest Herzegovinian minds of his time, such as Svetozar Ćorović, Aleksa Šantić, Risto Radulović Rindo and Jovan Dučić. Regardless of its great role in the culture and politics of the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it has been partially neglected and forgotten. In this book, the author tried, on the basis of original historical documents and correspondence of the most respected personalities of the time, to shed light on the cultural and political life of Mostar, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, at the turn from the nineteenth to the twentieth century, in which the influences of the Orient and civil Europe meet, complement and at times clash. The book represents one of the historical testimonies about the life of the Serbian people in that terrible area.
