Franz Petter (Waidhofen an der Ybbs, 4. 2. 1789 - Kotor, 8. 7. 1858) - Austrian geographer and botanist. In 1823, he became a professor of German in Dubrovnik and lived in Dalmatia from then until his death. In 1826, he became a professor of the German language in Split.
