I printed the first book about mushrooms, Guide for beginners in mushrooms, a quarter of a century ago. It was the first guide with a so-called zoom in on our fields and on our most ovoid and poisonous mushroom species. With it, I hope, many have taken their first mushrooming steps without any consequences for their own health and the health of their loved ones. Seven years after the first book, I published a much more extensive guide that I called The Second Mushroom Step. And now, seventeen years later, I have prepared a guide to picking mushrooms - an encyclopedic book, Mushrooms of our climate. You will rightly ask: what is new in this guide you are holding in your hands compared to previous books? First, my knowledge of mushrooms has increased over this long period, and most importantly, I have put in the first place numerous original photographs that will serve as a key to more reliable identification of mushrooms. Standard mushroom picking guides usually provide one photo of one species, which means they show only one stage in the mushroom's development, and my desire was to support each particular species with more photos to solve certain dilemmas that arise for young mushroom pickers: is what I found in nature this or something else; can i pick a mushroom?…
