Summary
Bible
Bible or Holy Scripture is a collection of books that Hebrews and Christians consider sacred in their own way. It is divided into two large parts: Old and New Testament. Christians study the Bible as their normative, guiding book for life, in which they find the message -- the word of God. However, the Bible is also a monument of the history of mankind, one of the oldest books, in which the genius of the Hebrews in his own way assimilated and further enriched the thinking and wisdom of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, and then, enriched by the Greek genius, brought it into the Greco-Roman world of that time through the New Testament and further Christian thinking. In terms of origin and language, content and style, imagery and metaphor, the Bible is not a single book, but a collection of books that were created in the period from the 13th century BC. BC to the 2nd century AD. The Bible is for Christians a sacred, inspired and canonical book.
For every person, the Bible is both a collection of historical documents and a literary work of original and timeless artistic power. It belongs to the common culture of humanity. The Old Testament in the Bible of Reality is the result of the manifold joint work of Croatian biblical scholars and writers.
Antun Sovic's translation was chosen as the starting text, with the fact that the Pentatebook was translated by Silvije Grubišić, the Psalms by Filibert Gass, and the Song of Songs by Nikola Miličević. The New Testament was translated by Ljudevit Rupčić.
