Summary
Pope Francis: Catechesis and exhortations on mercy
In this book, catechesis at general audiences on Wednesdays and jubilee audiences on Saturdays, as well as exhortations with prayers to the Angel of the Lord and the Queen of Heaven, delivered during the Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy, are collected, in which the theme of mercy is discussed. It is a kind of handbook of the theology of mercy of Pope Francis, in which mercy is first observed through the prism of Old Testament texts. Then we move on to the New Testament texts, where the Pope makes abundant use of parables, most of them taken from Luke's Gospel, in discussing and approaching certain aspects of mercy. Finally, the Pope addresses the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. The texts of exhortations and catechesis contained in this book, due to the openness, spontaneity and immediacy with which the Pope speaks about some aspects of mercy, also make it possible to get to know the truly unique personality even better and to "peek" into the soul of Pope Francis, who can rightfully be said to be the Pope of mercy.
