Wilfrid Harrington: An Introduction to the Bible

The Bible is historical and doctrinal because it contains the revelation that God revealed to men through his deeds and words. The Bible brings the history of our salvation or the gradual development of the Bolan plan of redemption through two Covenants or Covenants. First, the old covenant was concluded between God and Israel, which God kept despite the unfaithfulness of his chosen people, then the new one, which was opened to all mankind and sealed with the blood of one son of the nation of Israel, who was also the Son of God. The Bible, moreover, shows how every man should enter into that Covenant and persevere in it in order to achieve his personal salvation. It tells us what we need to know about God and man and what we must do in order to be acceptable to God.
This word of God is intended for each of us as it was intended for our distant predecessors in faith. It is the source of our faith as it was the source of theirs. This word became "incarnate" in order to reach man and convey the message of salvation, just as the Word Better became a man in order to promote human salvation. The word Bolja became a »book* or, more precisely, »books* of the Bible. Just as the incarnate Word took upon itself all our humanity, except for sin, so the word Better was subjected to the conditions of human language, except for error. These special markings differ from one author to another, and they also differ from ours today.
