Marko Đorđević: Institutional criticism

The book is part of the author's contemporary efforts to build a consistent theoretical practice that would include art theory in projects of radical social transformation. Marko Đorđević finds the most fruitful place to start this endeavor in the analysis of the concepts of institutions and subjects in the context of the theory of institutional criticism. After determining the lack of analysis of these terms in contemporary literature on institutional criticism, the author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to carry out a possible discursive analysis of their origin, methods of use and transformation. Here, it was aimed at creating a map of general philosophical-theoretical terms (institution and object) and specific terms of art theory (art institution and institutional criticism). The mapping was carried out by a detailed reading of individual theories and their comparison. In the first two chapters, the relevant texts are approached in sync, with an exclusive consideration of their meanings. The third chapter introduces diachronic reading, considering the time-space circumstances of their creation, execution and transformation
