Summary
Inga Vilogorac: Split churches: monumental heritage
The big anniversary, the 1700th year of Split, was the right opportunity for the city to finally get its first illustrated guide to Split's churches and thus, not only for foreigners, to provide an insight into the unique sacred treasures of Split, but also to surprise the people of Split themselves that everything exists in their city. The book by the young art historian Inga Vilogorac deals with 51 churches in a very simple, graphic and concise manner and also lists those that are no longer there or are still under construction. With this guide, you can finally easily find out where the church is located, who built it, when and in what style, whether it was renovated and when, and what can be seen in it, using the attached city plans. Naturally, most of the space is dedicated to the Cathedral of St. Dujma, which, as part of the very core of Diocletian's Palace, is rightly included in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.
