Summary
Kruno Prijatelj: Monuments of Split and its surroundings
Kruno Prijatelj (1922 - 1998), art historian and university professor, greatly indebted us with his activities, because he interpreted many unprocessed chapters of the history of art in Dalmatia through systematic research. He discovered many works of art, resolved numerous attribution issues and established important works of art, for example by Blaž Jurjev, and determined their place in Croatian art history. His experience as curator of the Archaeological Museum in Split and long-term director of the Art Gallery (1950-1979) allowed him to write one of the best and most reliable guides to the monumental heritage, not only of Split, but also of its surroundings: Solin, Klis, Kaštela, Trogir, Zagora, and finally - the road from Split to Omiš. The great master from Split, Emanuel Vidović, made numerous beautiful drawings for this guide.
