Summary
Jean Bauberot, Micheline Milot: Laicities without borders
In the whole world, on the one hand, there is an increased secularization, while on the other, religions show increasing vitality. "Laicity without borders" talks about this contradiction of today, giving at the same time a kind of historical overview of secularization and laicity (which for the authors are not identical terms), putting an accent on French laicity, which served as an exemplary social and political pattern for many societies around the world, and which, as the authors warn, is often interpreted unambiguously and simplistically.
