Marko Marulić: Opera di Marco Marulo da Spalato circa l'institutione del buono e beato vivere
Venetia: Appresso Paulo Vgolino, 1597. Marulić's most famous work of religious-instructive, moralistic and theological content in terms of scope and worldwide resonance. Known abbreviated as: "Guide to a virtuous life by the examples of the saints" or "Institution" (De institutione bene vivendi per exempla sanctorum). He wrote the work around 1496 in Latin, and the first preserved edition known to us is from 1507). It is a collection of instructive stories and anecdotes from the Bible and biographies of saints in six books. The purpose of the work is to encourage the reader to live a virtuous life with vivid and concise examples, without abstract considerations. The work was translated into Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Czech. The book in question is an Italian edition from 1597. Ex libris architect C. M. Iveković Zadar-Arbanasi. Hardcover in parchment, handwritten title on spine, 263 leaves, i.e. 526 pages. 15x20.5 cm. Condition very good.
