Thackeray William M.

Summary

William Makepeace Thackeray: Bari Lindon

Although he lives on the edge of poverty, young Redmond Barry, scion of a failed manorial family, firmly believes that he is destined to restore the glory of his ancestors and become a respected member of high society in mid-18th century Ireland. But in order to achieve this goal, he must travel a long way, which leads him through wars and European courts, complex intrigues seasoned with passionate love and burning hatred, through dizzying ascents, unexpected turns and sudden falls.
Although it was written in 1844, this satirical novel by William M. Thackeray,

the author of "Your Vanity" still captivates today with his wit and insightful remarks about human weaknesses, the insatiable desire for fame and the struggle for prestige, in which everyone believes that he is more privileged than others and is ready to justify his actions with lofty intentions.
