Summary
The novel is dominated by the voice of a woman who is not afraid to talk about herself - in order to oppose invisibility: social, physical, emotional. Her voice is challenging and strong. She destroys stereotypes about women in fiction: she is neither a victim nor a femme fatale, she is an authentic being who is reflected both in the mirror and in her freedom.
Before us is contemporary prose of a hybrid expression - on the border of a lyrical essay, a confession and a criminal narrative, her poetics rests on a combination of delicate physicality and brutal everyday life. By subtly sliding from the lyrical to the criminal register, the author easily, without separating, writes poetry and violence into the same world.
This is Tokin's most mature work - a novel that conquers with beauty and power.
