Arsen Dedić, the famous Croatian singer-songwriter, poet and composer, was deeply connected to the Belgrade Hotel Balkan. During his visits to Belgrade, he would often stay in that hotel, which was a special oasis of peace and inspiration for him. The Balkan Hotel is located in the heart of Belgrade and over the years has become a cult meeting place for numerous artists and intellectuals of the former Yugoslavia, among whom Arsen was highly respected.
Dedić's connection with Belgrade and stays at the Balkan Hotel testify to his role in the cultural life of the region, where his songs and poetry bridged linguistic and national borders. For Arsen, Belgrade was a place of creativity, friendships and collaboration with many prominent artists, and the Balkan hotel was one of his favorite places.
