Summary
Dragan Velikić: The Investigator
the book is chemically damaged in a few places
The greatest quality of this novel is the fact that it was written in such a way that everything in it had to be played only in the order and intensity as it was written and in no other way. There is no reader who will not weave himself into this novel. Because Islednik bravely talks about what we would rather be silent about.
Srđan Tešin
For Dragan Velikić, as well as for Ivo Andrić in the past, the novel is part of a wider author's project, perhaps not exactly a work in progress type, but certainly a dynamic concept that from book to book opens up more and more to events, people, different historical interpretations. In Islednik, Velikić also writes about unhealthy obsessions with housing, enclosure, and the imperishable realms of doorsteps. Velikić "investigates" that wretched and magnificent world of matriarchy, sad in its naivety and honesty, but also dangerous in its bizarre narrowness.

What makes Islednik stand out is its completely personal tone. It is about self-disclosure. About the writer without a mask. Peeking into one's own gut, which cannot be a matter of any literary tactics. Its origins are of a deeper, essential nature. The greatness and dominance of any literature depends precisely on those writers who make it so by their entire actions. The investigator is, without a doubt, Velikić's best book so far.
