Summary
Dragan Velikić: Viennese novel
One May morning in 2020, the Viennese police knocked on the door of the apartment of the young psychiatrist Pavlo Marić. Accused of poisoning his colleagues at KBC, Pavle will find himself in the judicial corner. After the seventy days he spent in pre-trial detention, the court process continues as the reader unravels the tangle of unsuspected manipulative threads that made Pavle an innocent victim in the hands of a higher power.
Dragan Velikić masterfully paints a portrait of the European system, a judicial system in which privileges are for some and dead ends for others. How can an individual defend himself in such circumstances, to what extent human life is reduced when an unexpected mixture of influence, power and tyranny is united against him - questions are filigree woven into a nuanced portrait of family relationships that reads like the most exciting crime story.
