Summary
Antun Šoljan: Out of focus
First edition
"Out of focus" is the second poetry collection of prominent Croatian writer Antun Šoljan. The collection was published in 1957 in Zagreb, by the publishing house Lykos. It was published as part of the well-known publishing series "Mala biblioteka poezije" as the 32nd book in a row
Together with his first collection "On the edge of the world" (1956), the collection "Out of focus" was created in the early period of Šoljan's creativity. The poems in these collections were written in direct dialogue with the Croatian poetic tradition, but also under the strong influence of the English and American poets that Šoljan translated. Šoljan was one of the key representatives of the so-called of the "Krugov generation" (collected around the magazine Krugovi), which brought an aesthetic turn and modernization of Croatian literature after the period of socialist realism.
