Summary
Damir Karakaš: How I got into Europe: a reality novel
Damir Karakaš was born in 1967 in Lika. He lived in Zagreb, Split, before moving to France in 2001. He has been playing the accordion since he was eight years old, a unique Lika repertoire.
Along with Robert Perišić, Karakaš is a cult writer of the new Croatian scene, completely original in his literary style, like a Balkan Dovlatov.
He made a reality novel from his emigrant diary, as part of a multimedia project, which, in his words, "examines the possibilities of communication of a foreigner / writer / musician / performer with a new environment... The project includes a street performance, photography, music, literature, life."
A movie was made this year based on Karakash's book "Kino Lika". He now lives in Paris.
