Summary
Meša Selimović: Krug
With the novel "The Circle" Meša Selimović returns to his dominant existential theme - the fateful predetermination of human life and freedom which is a consequence of various social or metaphysical conditions.
In the social exposition of the novel The Circle, it is the period of the so-called real-socialism of the proletarian society and the rebellion of the ideal consciousness of the protagonist Vladimir against the ruling hierarchy, ideological opportunism and the betrayal of former revolutionaries.
The novel was written from 1973 to 1976, but it has not lost its relevance. On the contrary, social injustices have remained a key issue of social and ethical awareness to this day.
