In this representative edition, the youth library presents to our readers Hendrik Conscience's masterpiece The Lion of Flanders. The book is at the same time a historical novel and popular reading in the best sense of the word, interesting and tense plot, high literary level, attractive to young people. It is a work in which, as Marijan Matković once noted, "the history of a small nation whose destiny in many respects resembles ours is sung".
The text was brilliantly translated by the great master of Croatian translation, Josip Tabak, who also wrote an extensive afterword that can serve as a handbook for the history of Flemish literature.
