Summary
Stephen King: Misery
Paul Sheldon is a famous writer, who gained fame for historical romances with the main character Misery. When Paul has a car accident, he is lucky enough to be rescued from the scene by a nurse - Annie. Annie turns out to be his biggest fan and is happy to take him to her isolated house to take care of him. But the news that Paul kills Misery in the last novel will not cheer her up at all. Annie refuses to say goodbye to Misery at any cost and wants Paul to write a different story: his greatest work, just for her. There are many ways to get him to write... One of them is a needle. The other is an axe. If these methods fail, Paul's jailer can become very nasty...
A master of the icy atmosphere of horror, King masterfully weaves parts of Paul's fictional novel written in captivity into the manuscript of his own work to create one of the scariest and best-written novels ever.
