Summary
Jan Dobraczynski: Letters of Nicodemus
Nicodemus is a respectable Pharisee, an impeccable doctrine and a spotless life. He is also one of the richest people in Israel. Nevertheless, he struggles with doubts and fears inside himself, especially because he suffers because of the illness of his beloved daughter, whom no doctor can help. Hearing about a mysterious prophet who performs great miracles and heals the sick, Nicodemus sets out on a journey, ostensibly to examine the teachings of the new prophet on behalf of the Sanhedrin, but in fact with only one intention: to save his beloved Ruta. He writes in detail about his venture to his former teacher Justus, faithfully conveying to him everything he heard from others about this Jesus of Nazareth, but also everything he researched, heard and saw about him with his own eyes...
This touching novel is one of the most interesting literary texts about the life of Christ and a deep depiction of the spiritual path of every human being. In Nicodemus' search, doubts and fears we will recognize our own. Together with him, we will discover Jesus close to all people, full of goodness and love. We will feel the friendly gaze of Jesus on us and hear his gentle words: "Give me your worries!"
Jan Dobraczyński, the favorite writer of spiritual novels, known for the successful works The Power of Love, The Miracle Worker from Padua and Mary Magdalene, in this his most famous work brings the most beautiful story so far about the deep transformation of the human heart under the merciful gaze of God.
