Summary
Veselin Gatalo: Princess of the Wall
Veselin Gatalo once again wrote a novel that breaks the boundaries of forms and genres, the boundary between a collection of short stories and a novel. Through a romantic love story, he wove an emigrant novel, a war story, a depiction of time and relationships in society in the 90s of the last century, a psychological drama and a book about the dying of human dreams, all through the story of a man who left a war-torn city with only one love. Fleeing from death and killing, he encounters a lot of love, usually where he doesn't look for it, but he desperately clings to the one he brought with him and which remained where he came from. Uncharacteristic of Bosnian post-war prose, there is a lot of love and sadness in Gatal's novel, only a little blood. There are no positive or negative characters in this novel, only people like we meet in real life, people made of flaws and feelings, with only a few virtues that only make life difficult for them.
