Summary
Erich Maria Remarque: The Triumphal Arch
The story of a man without a homeland, but also a classic about the Second World War by the author of the novel Nothing New in the West.
Year 1939. Although forbidden by law, Ravik, a German doctor and refugee living in Paris, operates and treats some of the most influential citizens of Paris for two years instead of less able and skilled French doctors, despite the ban on returning to his country and despite the daily danger of avoiding prison and deportation, Ravik manages to survive - all the while searching for the Nazi who tortured him in Germany. He has given up on the possibility of love, but fate has strange ways of bringing romance back into his life, even at the worst possible time.
