Summary
Mihailo Popović: From Buda to Constantinople
Via Traiana in the light of travel literature in the period from the 14th to the 16th century
One of the most famous Austrian-Serbian Byzantologists, Mihailo St. Popović wrote a monograph in German about Trajan's road, the most important medieval road that connected Buda and Constantinople. The basis of the book was Konstantin Jireček's study The Military Route from Belgrade to Constantinople and the Balkan Passages. However, Popović's goal in this book is to investigate the historical-geographical aspects of the military route in the late Byzantine and early Ottoman periods using travel literature created between the 14th and 16th centuries.
