Solovjov Vladimir

Summary

Vladimir Solovyov: Islam, Judaism, Christianity

Year 750 AD. it was equally ominous for the two rulers who, in irreconcilable enmity, shared the historical world of the time. The "Solitary of Rome", Justin II and the "Emperor of Emperors", Hozroi Anushirovan, in Ctesiphon, both received, in different forms, dire warnings.

Byzantium's allies, the Abyssinians, supported by African elephants, moved from Yemen towards Yatrib and then towards the Persian border. In Byzantium, they knew about this undertaking and expected a lot from it. But on the road from Yemen to Persia, the famous city of Mecca could not be bypassed. The preponderance of organized military power was on the side of the Abyssinians and, most importantly, the African elephants terrified the unaccustomed Arabs. The impression was so terrible that that year went down in history as the Year of the Elephant. The Abyssinians besieged the holy city, but already on the first night a terrible and unknown disease took hold in their camp, from which most of the people died, and the rest were killed by the Bedouins during their escape to Yemen. The Greek Emperor was outraged. Although the Persian emperor regained power in Yemen, that night, the sacred vessels were broken in his temple, and the eternal fire - the symbol of the supreme god of the Iranians - suddenly went out.

In the same year, the "Year of the Elephant", in a poor home in dusty Mecca, a boy Muhammad was born, who was destined to unite the peoples of the East and end the thousand-year conflict between the Greek and Persian empires, destroying both...

Three stories, about the three largest world religions, from the pen of a philosopher, theologian, and one of the greatest authorities of Russia, Vladimir Solovyov.
