Summary
Rosino Gibellini: A Brief History of XXth Century Theology
After the extensive and thorough book Theology of the Twentieth Century (KS, 1999) by the same author, the Italian edition from 2007 was updated with an appendix that presented a global reconstruction of XXth century Christian thought in its most important moments, in its most busy themes, in essential texts that mark its course. This Brief history of theology of the 20th century provides a wider audience with the main features of the previous larger book. This means that the reader will find in this book the briefest of the theologies of the 20th century, which range from liberal theology to the break represented by dialectical theology; from demythologising to the theology of history, all the way to theologies that arose outside of European soil (Latin American, African, Asian) and new types of theologies (feminist and ecological). This work is a clear and concise reconstruction of Christian thought in its many faces, which tries to bring to light the continuity of the long period and interruptions that marked its two-thousand-year history.
