Enver Krivac: Lonely Circumstances
"Solitary Circumstances" is something completely different: a fused graphic-literary magazine in which the author, the cheekily multi-talented Enver Krivac, drew and wrote four issues of the newspaper, combined them into an art book that has absolutely nothing to do with contemporary art, stifled correctness and calculations. This is a compendium of art that we already forgot existed, for example those of American underground comics with all their provocations of a formal and substantive nature, anarcho-liberal jumps and (auto)ironies.
Krivče's comics and illustrations have the most graphic heritage of rawness, outsiderness and playing with the unconscious art-brut and expressionist lines and sense fragments, he likes Dada too, but above all the drawing, especially its flatness, then film editing, enlarging... (P)description of all heterogeneous influences and techniques (shower, collage, rasters, watercolors, photographs, letrism, hybrid blessing of the computer...) is infinite, as is the author's curiosity and playfulness.
Krivec's short stories are also diverse and marked by a penchant for experimentation, a game with language that sometimes leads to delirium - he can also narrate, but that's for him quite boring - paradoxes, humor and dark humor, which together with thematization and traumatization of petty-bourgeoisness binds them into a compatible whole of this book, which was reinforced by Damir Bralić's design.
"Lonely Circumstances" can be read in order or random, but wherever you grab it, you will find out-of-the-ordinary skill and art. Because art is not for art's sake.
