Josip J. Škavić: Croatian drama XIX. century
Even today, it is not easy to find more information about Josip J. Škavić, although his works and activities have contributed to Croatian culture and its heritage for several reasons: he was a theater critic and publicist, secretary of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb from 1923 to 1927 (during the time of Josip Bach, director, actor and drama director), but also a professor at the Academy of Theater Arts (AKU), where he served as a professor and its first the rector. By the way, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb and processed his doctoral dissertation on the topic »Croatian drama and Zagreb theater in the XIX century (until 1895)«. This manuscript was prepared for printing, but ended up only in the NSK archive. and this is his first publication.
