Summary

dr. Joseph Murphy: Heal Yourself Using the Power of the Subconscious Mind

You have the power to heal yourself and others! The only limitation that can prevent you from doing this is if you don't know how. Dobra je vijest da informacije i savjeti potrebni za korištenje ove iscjeliteljske moći nisu tajna. The principles that enable healing power are eternal. They are older than all religions, philosophies and other beliefs. In fact, they are even older than the human species.
These techniques have been applied, demonstrated and described for thousands of years. You will find them in the works of ancient philosophers, in the scriptures of many major religions, and in the works of modern doctors, psychologists, and theologians.

Unfortunately, these older works did not provide clear instructions on how to use mental powers for healing. Instead, they presented information in the form of stories or puzzles to be interpreted and deciphered in order to learn successful techniques. Therefore, only a few enlightened individuals were able to master these powers.

This began to change with the teachings and work of Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (1802 – 1866), who is considered the father of the New Thought movement. The New Thought movement, which originated in the United States at the beginning of the 19th century, is based on a combination of religious and metaphysical assumptions. It can best be described as the belief that you can be, do and have anything you want, imagine or believe. Quimby emphasized the fact that people are often healed of chronic illnesses simply by faith or by removing emotional or psychological barriers to healing—by changing their thoughts and feelings.

This is the basis of the philosophy of Dr. Joseph Murphy, pharmacist, priest, one of the great motivational writers and lecturers of the twentieth century and the author of this book. As pastor-manager of the Church of Divine Science in Los Angeles, he lectured and preached weekly to 1,300 to 1,500 people. Millions of people listened to his daily radio shows. He wrote over thirty books, including The Power of the Subconscious Mind, which was published in 1963, quickly became a bestseller, and was named one of the best self-help books ever written. It sold millions of copies and is still sold worldwide. Building on the success of that book, Dr. Murphy lectured to thousands of people in many countries.
Murphy said that everything we achieve and everything we fail to achieve is a direct result of our own thoughts. All our happiness and suffering comes from within. As we think, so we are; as we continue to think, so we continue to be. The only way to rise, overcome and achieve success is positive thinking. When we become sick, poor, or desperate, it is not necessarily because of a lack of effort, but because of negative thoughts and false beliefs. Illness is created and maintained by thoughts of illness.

To achieve and maintain perfect health, we must replace thoughts of illness with thoughts of perfect health and vitality, and we must believe that these thoughts will manifest in our lives. Central to Murphy's teachings is the principle that new thoughts, ideas, attitudes and beliefs create new states: "What we believe is reflected in us" - good, bad, indifferent.
Using our conscious thought, we sow the seed of thought into our subconscious, and then we "reap what we sow" in terms of the conditions and events that spring from that seed. To heal yourself and others, all it takes is an open mind and a willing heart—open to hearing old truth presented in a new and different way—and a willingness to replace old, limiting beliefs with new, empowering ideas and concepts.

In ourselves we possess the infinite power of choice. We can choose to submit or change. Submission is acceptance and adaptation to existing circumstances and ideas, attitudes and beliefs brought by others. It is living and ruling "according to the transient and unstable fashions and conditions of the moment" or being trapped in the past. The word itself "submission" tells us that our present environment has power over us and that we should not deny it.
