Summary
Ivana Maksić: Vejavica
The *Vejavica* manuscript (marshal-depression) is an overview notebook of fragments about intimate life moments, characters, their masks and gestures, about everything that can be encountered on the way from body to language, from consciousness to subconsciousness, from the periphery to the center, from culture to ideology, from winter to summer... *Vejavica* shows scenes from the public and intimate life of our post-apocalyptic time in which we remember the past from which we came or what happened to us. The subject who speaks here is the observer with a precise and consistent focus, which shapes the fragmentary form as an essential relationship to the theme of life. It is about a woman from that climate, stuck in time, who - despite the loss of memory - can think deeply and feel strongly, using linguistic expression as sharp as a razor and uttering the truth as it appears to her under the sediment of everyday life and the patina of lost aesthetics and ethics. Even though the *wind* hits us straight in the face, preventing us - due to its fragmentary nature - from seeing the entirety of the world and the time we are in, each record is still sufficiently sharp. The core, that essential guiding thought, is clearly indicated. The fact that we, today's readers of this book, are her contemporaries, sometimes helps us in elucidating certain fragments. It is about those who understand and feel this multi-layered truth, woven from fragments of facts and dreams. This is precisely why this text sways us between those two states - factual and oneiric - like a gentle rocking in the middle of complete delusions. (From the afterword by Bojan Marković)
