Summary
Antonis Georgiu: Album of Stories
Antonis Georgiu's polyphonically composed "story" Album of Stories is a colorful mosaic depicting an island, a country and its peoples. Pieces of that mosaic are stories that intertwine and build on each other, stories that tell about family, life, love, war, death, history, refugees and immigrants, about (in)tolerance, about human destinies that are both universal and completely unique. Scattered among the stories are newspaper clippings, recipes, children's drawings, songs and, of course, many photos from family albums; fragments loosely connected into a whole which, like life itself, remains ultimately irreducible to one common denominator. When he remembered them, he collected all the albums that were crammed in the closet and took them with him to Nicosia to examine them, his mother begged him.
