Summary
Edin Salčinović: A useless man
Playing with the registers of pop culture, the author skilfully narrates the border areas of a Sarajevo reality. Misunderstood among his colleagues, estranged from his family, a useless man, journalist of the Black Chronicle, Adem Džanko, finds interlocutors either in the ghosts of his stories or among his strange and accidental spiritual relatives. Clear and seductive sentences, subtle transitions between irony and pathos, and a harmonious mixture of administrative and high style reveal an author who transcends local narrative manners in both language and plot, between the tradition of orality and the banality of columnism.
