Saul Bellow: Herzog
Moses Herzog is a Jew and a professor of literature. In complex family relationships, isolated in the countryside, he passionately and fanatically writes letters (real or imagined) to various people and comments on various events. Letters are actually a metaphor for trying to communicate with people and ideas. The novel was written in 1964.
