Summary
Niko Andrijašević: Pictures and stories from the Neretva region
Niko Andrijašević is a Croatian writer, critic and publicist (Gradac near Ploča, January 24, 1882 – Sarajevo, July 25, 1951). Studied history, Slavic studies, geology and law in Vienna and Zagreb. Served in Zagreb, Split and Sarajevo. In his short-story oeuvre, he is belatedly consistent in continuing traditional realistic storytelling, and the social charge of his stories, thematically mostly related to the village of the Dalmatian environment, is often seasoned with sentimentalistic descriptions of love scenes.
