Summary
Will Self: How the Dead Live
The novel by this contemporary British author is an unusual story about Lily Bloom, who dies of cancer at the age of sixty-five. However, her death is not a sad story about the extinction of a life, but rather an ironic obituary autobiography, in which, carefully, in the first person, she records all the twitches of her dying body, as well as the annoying "gallery" of people who surround her in the last days, with a short, fragmented retrospective of what she experienced. After she dies, she is followed by an exciting sojourn in "the other world", where an otherworldly bureaucracy called the "administration of death" will grant her rebirth. It will happen in 2002, in an extremely bizarre form...
