A novel about growing up and the pitfalls that accompany it. It's a story about seventeen-year-old David Sterry, who enrolls at Immaculate Heart College in Hollywood. Without funds or accommodation, he meets a tall, friendly black man who offers him help. That night, a kind black man rapes him. He runs away, gets a job in a fast food bakery and roasts tons of chicken. He soon learns that there is a much easier way to earn money - prostitution. David's story about "young meat" is interwoven with memories of his childhood in a North American immigrant family.
