Andre Gide: Forgers of money

The French dramatist, novelist and Nobel laureate believed that the novel should be freed, that it should no longer be subordinated to reality and that "everything must go into it". At the center of the event are three friends, one of whom is Edouardo, the author's "alter ego" who himself writes the novel "Money Counterfeiters". The peculiarity of this work is the introduction of a large number of faces, among them the writer and playwright Alfred Jarry. The novel is considered the forerunner of the "new novel" literary movement.
