Summary
Vladimir Pištalo: Millennium in Belgrade
Millennium in Belgrade is a novel written in a mosaic where, as the title suggests, a portrait of the city, as well as its generations, is built. "The White City" is wonderful, dreamy and cursed, of a generation that seems to be captured through a group of five friends and their loves.
However, when the war starts in 1991, these loves cannot survive.
The Millennium in Belgrade is not a novel written according to the rules, nor is it a chronicle of the war years: it is a fresco of human madness, whose main victim is Belgrade. Drawing from distant Slavic sources, imbued with surrealism, the author uses all registers to infuse his work with the spirit of a grandiose epic.
