Summary
Graham Greene: Peaceful American
The novel "Peaceful American" by the English writer Graham Greene is set in Saigon during the early 50s of the last century and near the end of the First Indochina War.
He describes two parallel conflicts: one love, located in a triangle between the experienced British journalist, Thomas Fowler, the young American Alden Pyle and Fowler's girlfriend, the Vietnamese Fuong, and the second, political, which follows the increasing involvement of America in events, which will lead to the Vietnam War. Fowler's character, who is the narrator of the events, is not only based on the author's fiction, but partly also on his own experience.
In fact, Greene spent several years in those regions and closely observed certain historical events that flow into his story.
