Summary
Maja Mihajlović: The Impossible Sun of Asia
Poet Maja Mihajlović, after the publication of the book "Ships, Gods and Small Fires in Hands", with a new collection, whose poems are divided into five cycles - "Impossible Suns of Asia", "Small Poems", "The Burning City", "Records from the Center of the Heart" and "There's Still Something in You" - offers readers an unusual poetic world of peculiar imagery, rhythmicity and sensitivity. The poetic expression, which alternates between short poetic notes and emphasized narrative, is directed towards the deeply personal, as well as towards the spatially and temporally distant, but sensitively anything but distant. Leading a dialogue with Virgil, Shakespeare, Ivan V. Lalić or Vasko Pop, Maja Mihajlović builds a poetic world marked by sword and fire, but also gentleness.
