Vladimir Bulatović Vib was born on March 8, 1931 in the village of Sopotsko, near Resen (Macedonia). After his high school graduation (1949), Vib came to Belgrade and entered the Higher School of Journalism and Diplomacy; when the school was disbanded, he enrolled at the Faculty of Philosophy - Group for Yugoslav Literature.
He started working in journalism as a high school student in Kragujevac, where he worked for the local newspaper Svetlost. In Belgrade, he continues to write and publishes in Student. During his studies, he writes for many literary magazines, and most often collaborates in the newspaper Jež. In 1955, he became a permanent associate, and soon the editor of this paper, where he remained until 1961. From then until 1963, he was the editor of the newly formed Belgrade Week. There he writes permanent columns: "Smile, please", "Parole nesdelje" and "The column that grows teeth", and he also has a weekly column in the newspaper Borba, where he publishes satirical stories. In 1963, he moved to the newspaper Politika, where he remained until his death. He asserted himself with the column "Notes with premeditation" (satirical stories in which he reacts to current events), and later with the columns "Korak nazad" (where he publishes aphorisms), "Vibriranje", "A glass of wine from the newspaper", "Poems for the secret pocket"... At one time he was the editor-in-chief of Politika zabavnik, then the editor of Politika Ekspres. He published his articles all over the former Yugoslavian area.
Vib published five books: Alarm Clock (1963), Menjačnica ideala (1965), Great Storage (1971), Step Back (1976) and the selected satire Šta je pisac hteo da kaze (1981); his Selected works in 4 books (1994) were published posthumously, as well as a collection of essays and travelogues On Duty in the Ear of Time (1998).
In the last six years of his life, illness prevented him from writing and publishing. He died in Belgrade on September 2, 1994.
