Summary
Richard Bach: Lifeguards at Sea (Ferret Chronicles)
Many people do not know that at the edge of every sea there is a Ferret Rescue Service. While the Coast Guard's job is to rescue human beings in peril, it's the ferrets' job to save animals at sea when they find themselves in danger.
Captain Bethany Ferret, a cub of humble origins, soon takes command of the fast lifeboat J-boat Steadfast, a former shipwreck aground on a rock, which she has rebuilt herself. Bethany and her crew are given measures by storms at sea, ships in danger and the lives they have saved from the storm.
At the first call for help, the engine wakes up with a screeching sound, the darkness is illuminated by the flash of spotlights, the crew and the boat tackle the waves and the howling wind to reach the desperate creatures in the dark water, and the line that separates life and death now depends on the courage of the ferret.
Lifeguards at Sea is a story about how following ideals, a story about the value of teamwork, a picture of ferrets in action, those ferrets who believe that saving lives is the noblest calling.
