Murakami Haruki

Summary

Haruki Murakami: Sputnik srce drago

This is a novel about human loss and alienation, a novel about the halving of man, about his being thrown into an orbit where he is forced to move like some fake Earth satellite. In the novel, the real and the virtual constantly compete, mixing to the point of being unrecognizable. It is a multiple collision of worlds, even geographically, considering that part of the plot takes place in Japan, and part in Greece, which was not chosen by chance since it is the homeland of the island of Lesbos.
In its second part, the novel has all the dramatic characteristics of a thriller, where the reader is trapped on a merry-go-round of anxieties and passions. The effort of the main character, Sumira, to get to know the other side, to discover what is on the other side of the mirror, to try to fill the huge void into whose jaws she fell by meeting her dead mother is also dramatic.
