From the mobilization and the first marches, via Cer and Kolubara, the harsh reality of warfare in mud and poverty is described. The author records conversations in the barracks between battles, where more is said about family and home than about glory and decorations. This work is a precious chronicle of the time in which Serbia, although exhausted, showed the world what it means to fight for survival and freedom. It is a reminder of the sacrifice of the generation that laid everything on the altar of the homeland, asking for nothing in return.
