The action of the novel "Three War Comrades" takes place in Germany in the 20s of the 20th century, when Germany is plagued by corruption, misery and hopelessness. The heroes of the novel are three comrades from the First World War. Robert, Gottfried and Otto manage to open a car repair shop despite hard times and the constant threat of the city's economic collapse. During these difficult times, Robert meets Patricia Holman, a beautiful and mysterious girl from the middle class, who suffers from tuberculosis. Her illness will not prevent Robert from falling in love with her and spending the best moments of his life with her.
And when it seems that luck has smiled on them, life imposes new adversities and problems on them... Patricia's days in the city are numbered, and due to her health, she goes to a Swiss mountain sanatorium. The political situation in the city is heating up, one of the comrades, Gottfried, is killed. Otto and Robert are facing bankruptcy and have to sell the workshop. At that difficult moment for them, a letter arrives from the sanatorium that Patricia's condition has worsened. Two war comrades rush to the Swiss mountains so that Robert can spend his last moments with his beloved Patricia.
This is a novel that glorifies friendship and love. A novel that was loved by many generations, and that is still read with pleasure today.
