Summary
Alain Fournier: Veliki Mon
A sentimental-biographical love story shrouded in secrecy, full of symbolism and new sensitivity, written in a brilliant style. The action of the novel begins in a small town, where one day a high school student, Augustin Mon, comes to the local school. He is quiet, but always ready for action and adventure. Soon he will be called Veliki Mon at school, and the teacher's lonely and sickly son Francoise, the narrator in the novel, will find in him the friend of his dreams. Around Christmas, eighteen hundred and ninety-something Francoise should go to the train station, quite far away, and wait for the grandparents who were visiting for the holiday. Mon accidentally learns that through a neighboring farm it is possible to significantly shorten the journey and go to another station, where the train arrives earlier. And without saying anything to anyone, he leaves. But, due to a combination of circumstances, he will get lost on the way and return only after three days.
