Kos, Vinko, Croatian poet (Vučetinec near Svetoga Jurja na Bregu, 10. VII. 1914 – ?, V. 1945). Studied Croatian and German at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. Disappeared in the Bleiburg tragedy. With the collections of poems Waterfall (1939), Kipar (1941) and the poem Šišmiš (1943), he gained a reputation as a meditative and mystical poet. He also published the Kajkavian collection Lada (1944), inspired by the native landscape. Under the pseudonyms Uncle Niko and Uncle Niko, he wrote songs, stories and plays for children (Christmas stars, 1941; Golden apple, 1942; Dušenka, 1943; Mountain boy, 1944; Golden nuts, 1947). Some of his songs have been set to music. Children's plays, radio dramas, novellas and travelogues were found in his legacy.
