Summary
M. R. James: Whistle and I'll come to you
M. R. James is rightly considered one of the greatest classic masters of the creepy short story. His collections and selections of the best stories have been continuously reprinted since publication until today, a century later. The status of an unsurpassed artist of ghost stories has been maintained, among other things, by the mass-available editions of the prestigious "Wordsworth Classics" edition, which allow his stories to be read outside the domain of devotees, collectors and scholars, which is especially important. , because, as Poe wrote, "to be appreciated, you must first be read." Today, it is safe to say that the works of M. R. James will be read as long as there is a reader's need for sweet chills and ominous fear. - Dr. Dejan Ognjanović
